When you work with Chicago Metro Home Inspections, you sign an inspection agreement that governs the legal relationship between you as the client, and us as the inspector. We utilize the InterNACHI (International Association of Certified Home Inspectors) agreement, which sets out the responsibilities of both parties, so you know what to expect.
Highlights of the Inspection Agreement
The agreement specifies the following:
- The amount of our fee, including your prepaid deposit
- That we will conduct a visual examination and present a report detailing the results
- That the inspection is performed in accordance with the current Standards of Practice
- Unless otherwise agreed to, we will not test for radon
- Our inspection and your report are for your use only
- We assume no liability for the cost of repair or replacement of unreported defects or deficiencies that are current or may arise in the future
- We do not perform engineering, architectural, plumbing or any other job function that requires an occupational license in the jurisdiction where the property is located
- … and additional (mostly legal) provisions
